Established in the late 1750's, San Borja typifies the
remote setting of many Baja missions. The missions were
located at natural water sources, often deep in the
mountain peninsula. At the height of activity around
San Borja, the Jesuit padres counted over 1,000 neophyte
Indians within their domain. |
