Memorias were lists of the materials and supplies
needed from Mexico City which were compiled each year
by the Jesuits. The lists included everything from
kitchen utensils to building materials and military equipment.
In a 1725 Memoria, church vestments and furnishings
accounted for one-sixth of the value of the total
shipment. Among the items requested were: "four padre's
capes, in red brocade or white silk, altar hangings,
altar clothes, and chalice covers in rich cloths." |
